Tim’s Travels
Follow Timothy Blaine as he travels
around Australia on his ‘Casino Crawl’.
In Australia, Aussie men are very familiar with the term “Pub Crawl”. It’s where you and a few mates go from pub (hotel) to pub around town, maybe having one or two beers in each place. Can be a dangerous pastime!
My wife and I have a less dangerous pastime… we are on a “Casino Crawl”… traveling around Australia, visiting the various Casinos as we go. Thanks to my winning roulette secret, the Casinos are paying for our trips! Watch this page as I update it on our travels.
UPDATE – February 11, 2010
Three years ago, I promised my wife a trip to Las Vegas. Well, it’s time to honour that promise. The bookings are made and paid for and we fly out of Sydney in July.
It won’t be all Las Vegas though… we must do the tourist thing as well.We have 2 weeks to see California and a week in Las Vegas. We are alternating our stay between the Bellagio and the MGM Grand.
The hardest part for me, will be finding enough single zero wheels!
Update: March 2010
As mention in a recent post, we took a little time off and visited Jupiter’s Hotel & Casino at the Gold Coast. Thanks again to My Roulette Secret, we won again and also collected bonus ‘wages’ on another table as we were leaviong for the night. That’s was thanks to the little-known ‘Dealer Signature‘.
Update: August 2010
Bev and I are just back in Australia after 3 lovely weeks holiday in the USA. After a long, grueling 14 hour flight from Sydney to Los Angeles, our taxi took us from LAX to Santa Monica for a very enjoyable 2 night stay at The Georgian Hotel on the ocean front.
From Santa Monica we traveled to Anaheim and had 6 nights in the very lovely Anaheim Hilton. And yes, you guessed it, several visits to Disneyland and California Adventure Park. Absolutely amazing… and I guarantee you, it’s not just for kids!
From Anaheim, we boarded a Lux Bus and headed to Las Vegas! We had booked 7 nights in Las Vegas… 3 nights in a Fountain View Room at The Bellagio (spectacular!) and 4 nights in a Celebrity Spa Suite at The MGM Grand. Luxury and opulence… we sure spoiled ourselves!
Suprisingly, we did very little gambling in Vegas, preferring instead to see the sights and take in shows. And there’s plenty of both to do and see in Las Vegas!
It was then aboard a Virgin America flight to San Fransisco and 6 lovely nights at the downtown Donatello Hotel. Although it was mid summer, we shivered constantly in San Fransisco, reminding me of that fitting statement of Mark Twain who once said, “The coldest winter I’ve ever spent was a summer in San Fransisco.”
Naturally, we did all the tourist things… Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, Alcatraz, Lombard Street, then a Napa Valley Wine Tour, topped off with a day trip to majestic Yosemite National Park.
Hiring a car, we left San Fransisco and took 2 days to drive back to LA via the beautiful coastal route, taking in lovely seaside towns such as Carmel-by-the-Sea and Santa Barbara. Of course, as a golfer we had to visit Pebble Beach via 17 Mile Drive, then off to LA for the grueling 14 hour flight back to Sydney.
Our next trip is already planned… the casinos in Tasmania… Hobart and Launceston in February 2011. Somehow, I think we will sneak in a couple of short stays at Jupiters Gold Coast and Crown Melbourne before then!
Good luck at the tables!
